Vallotton, Felix

French painter and engraver of Swiss origin, born in Lausanne. Felix Vallotton came to Paris in 1882 to study drawing, and settled there, taking French citizenship. At the Academie Julien he made friends with Bonnard, Serusier, Roussel, Vuillard and Ranson - the Nabis were the principal influence on his work at this stage.
