By the age of 25, Albert Moore had outstripped the artistic preoccupations of his own day and embarked on a solitary search for the secrets of aesthetic perfection. In a series of exquisitely executed oil paintings, he employed the female figure to embody an abstract ideal of beauty that he had discerned from the finest examples of art and nature.
