Malczewski, Jacek

Studied at the Cracow Fine Arts Academy from 1858 to 1929. Then spent time in Munich and Paris. Jacek Malczewski's early artworks are sombre and Romantic. In 1890, his palette brightened. Malczewski's art work concerns primarily the tragic situation of Poland, the desire for indepence was strong within him.
