Ouwater, Isaak Biography

Netherlandish painter. Only one work has definitely been attributed to him, The Raising of Lazarus (Staatliche Museen, Berlin). Isaak Ouwater was a follower of Jan van Eyck and Dirk Bouts, and is traditionally regarded as the master of Geertgen tot Sint Jans. He was presumably born in Ouwater, though he was closely associated with Haarlem.
